Strike Three isn’t outdated yet!

Reading the newspapers–and that was a cute but scary editorial cartoon in today’s paper–I’m glad that North Korea has kept Strike Three, my post-apocalyptic novel, up to date. The villain in Strike Three is NKAAU (North Korea/Africans/Arabs United, even though it only includes four countries) or as the newspapers call it: Nukes All Around Us.

Joy V. Smith’s writing news update

My novels include Detour Trail, a western, and Strike Three, my post-apocalyptic novel; and I’m delighted to have my audiobook, Sugar Time, out in a  new edition as an ebook and a paperback; this edition includes all four Sugar Sweet time travel stories.  (See below for ordering info.) And now one of my novels that has been sitting on an editor’s desk, has been requested by the editor (that is, the full ms).  And I’m working on my latest novel that just needs a little more tweaking–oh, plus the last chapter–so I can submit that one!

Military surplus

I did a lot of research for my post-apocalyptic novel, Strike Three, including checking out military surplus catalogs. Now that I’m on their mailing lists, I got a Coleman’s Military Supplies catalog today.  You can get military clothing, sleeping bags, equipment, survival kits, MREs, and more. There’s an interesting selection of items from other countries too.

MREs and Desert Storm (link)

I enjoyed Linda Maye Adams’ latest Desert Storm post and the MREs list and background.  Check it out here: https://garridon.wordpress.com/2014/11/24/desert-storm-the-food-at-dhahran/#comments

Note: I used MREs as a survival food, among others, in my post-apocalyptic novel, Strike Three.

Strike Three: The letter S

S is for Seeds

Most of the planet is a desert now in Strike Three.  Are there enough seeds to restore life?  And how long could that take?  And how long will it take to learn if some of the saved seeds are sterile?

Strike Three: The letter Q

Q is for Quiet

What does it sound like when there are no animals, no birds, no insects, no planes in the sky or cars on the road, boats on the water, snowmobiles, …  It’s strange and scary.  You might think it’s finally peaceful, but it feels so wrong…Three Cover4
