Taboo Tech update

I’ve been working on the story; putting characters, ships, and planets lists together. Oh, I forgot Snuggles! (He decided he wanted to be a dog; he chose the name, btw.) And I had to work on my dedication too. No acknowledgments needed for this book. (When working on Strike Three, I had a lot of help from people I knew online [remember the SF forums on AOL?], friends, and even my sister.)

Joy’s SF books: Cold New Planet

Cold New Planet: What mysteries will the colonists–and the consortium backing them–uncover on this slowly thawing planet? Are the colonists alone? This planet was supposed to be theirs; their backers, who have their own agenda, have paid enough money to ensure that. What lies under the snow and ice? And where did all these humans–and aliens–come from? Are they all trapped here now?

Keeping the livestock warm and fed is a first step–after finally arriving via the point to point ship. Then we must deal with the aliens and the other colonists who aren’t supposed to be here. Can we use the domes? Will the inhabitants there let us? And what happened to our explorers? Join the explorers and colonists on this captured planet: Cold New Planet

Note: oino sakai wrote the scifaiku that introduces Cold New Planet

The Doorway and Other stories is on sale!

The Doorway and Other Stories, my reprint collection of 14 science fiction and fantasy stories, is on sale for 99 cents for a limited time: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SV1FB2

The blurb says 11 stories, but I added three more stories and haven’t been able to figure out how to change  the first description!

Here are fourteen of my favorite stories, and since my favorite genre is science fiction, they are mostly SF except for The Princess Quest, a tongue-in-cheek sword and sorcery epic, and Old Rex, a ghost story. They’ve all been published elsewhere, except for Royal Guardians; this is its first time in print. If you like reading about aliens, time travel, symbiotes, and humans searching for a home, family, their own bodies, etc., check it out now because at the end of the week , the price goes back up after a brief stop at $1.99.

The Doorway and Other Stories price is about to go up!

Here are some of the fourteen SF and fantasy stories:

Home Not: His mother named him Grief, and his aunt and uncle raised him until his aunt died. What could he do when his only protector was gone?
The Doorway: Nessa stumbles into the time corridor while helping a friend.
Guard Dog is the sequel to The Doorway.   (They have coats like steel wool.)
Royal Guardians: An ex-queen and her companions–her bodyguard and a temple cat–land in Florida after they escape from her palace.

Tired of your human body? Want to be a cat? Read Stray Cats.

The Trees of Home  is about real tree houses, unicorns, hostile mermaids, and a wife and mother who sets out to win her family’s respect.

The freeps in What Price a Friendly Freep resemble tribbles…

My genetic engineering short story, Carnies, is included also.

The Princess Quest  first appeared in the Kings of the Night II anthology.
Old Rex, aka the DA’s daughter’s dead dog, is one of the stories.

Pilot’s Course  was 2nd in the Andre Norton division in the 1995 FFWA FSW competition.

Except for Royal Guardians, all these stories are reprints.
