Joy’s SF books: The Doorway and Other Stories

The Doorway and Other Stories include fourteen of my favorite stories (reprints), and since my favorite genre is science fiction, they are mostly SF except for The Princess Quest, a tongue-in-cheek sword and sorcery epic, and Old Rex, a ghost story.  They’ve all been  published elsewhere, except for Royal Guardians; this is its first time in print.  If you like reading about aliens, time travel, symbiotes, and humans searching for a home, family, their own bodies, etc., I think you’ll enjoy this collection of characters and their adventures.

Stories include symbiotes (Pilot’s Course), time tunnels (The Doorway), attacking aliens (Too Tight), friendly aliens (Freeps), mermaids (Well Met by Water), trading bodies (Stray Cats), royalty (Royal Guardians),and genetic engineering. The Doorway and Other Stories is available on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SV1FB2

The Doorway and Other Stories price is about to go up!

Here are some of the fourteen SF and fantasy stories:

Home Not: His mother named him Grief, and his aunt and uncle raised him until his aunt died. What could he do when his only protector was gone?
The Doorway: Nessa stumbles into the time corridor while helping a friend.
Guard Dog is the sequel to The Doorway.   (They have coats like steel wool.)
Royal Guardians: An ex-queen and her companions–her bodyguard and a temple cat–land in Florida after they escape from her palace.

Tired of your human body? Want to be a cat? Read Stray Cats.

The Trees of Home  is about real tree houses, unicorns, hostile mermaids, and a wife and mother who sets out to win her family’s respect.

The freeps in What Price a Friendly Freep resemble tribbles…

My genetic engineering short story, Carnies, is included also.

The Princess Quest  first appeared in the Kings of the Night II anthology.
Old Rex, aka the DA’s daughter’s dead dog, is one of the stories.

Pilot’s Course  was 2nd in the Andre Norton division in the 1995 FFWA FSW competition.

Except for Royal Guardians, all these stories are reprints.

The Doorway and Other Stories

My latest e-book (story collection) is now available:

I’m happy to have some of my old stories in one place.  Except for The Princess Quest, which is a humorous fantasy, and Old Rex, a ghost story, the rest of the stories are all science fiction adventures of different types, involving aliens, time travel, symbiotes, and humans searching for a home and/or family. All the stories have been published elsewhere–sometimes more than once–over the years, except for Royal Guardians. This is its first time in print.

The Doorway and Other Stories

I’m adding my new ebook to Kindle Direct Select; this’ll be my first time for that.  My cover uploaded to Kindle on the first try!  I’d forgotten to check the meaurements, so I’m glad I didn’t have to resize it, as I’ve had to do before.  Now I have to proofread and tweak the text.  Btw, my cover only showed up in black & white.  It was always in color before.  It must be because it’s the preview.  Here’s the cover in color:
