I was 7000 words into my sequel, so I had to make it to 57,000 (I’m a rebel), but I ended up with 58,500 because I had to write the ending. In other years I had enough time to edit as I went along, but this time I found myself taking breaks to come up with the next scenes and chapters–and writing in cliches and dialogue that made me cringe. Look Ma–drivel! I’ll wait a while before I start editing, which is what you’re supposed to do. Distance yourself so you ‘ll see it from a fresh perspective.
